Works for cello and orchestra by Dvořák, Enescu, Respighi, Rubinstein, and Tchaikovsky featuring the faculty of the Cello│Fresno Festival and Debussy’s La mer.

Tickets are $25 for general admission; $20 for employees, seniors, military personnel/veterans; $15 for non-Fresno State students; and free for Fresno State students with valid ID.

CLOSING GALA CONCERT

Featuring the Youth Orchestras of Fresno
Sunday, November 2, 2025 @ 3:00 p.m.
School of Music Concert Hall

Featuring the two cello ensembles conducted by Cara and Emilio Colón, and the Youth Orchestras of Fresno with the Concerto Competition winners performing works by Davidoff and Popper, Bion Tsang and Emilio Colón performing works by Dvořák, Strauss, and Tchaikovsky, and Rossini’s William Tell Overture conducted by Thomas Loewneheim.

Tickets are $25 for general admission; $20 for employees, seniors, military personnel/veterans; $15 for non-Fresno State students; and free for Fresno State students with valid ID.

Cello | Fresno 2025

All rehearsals are required in order to participate. Exceptions due to the marching band competition will be made. Please remember to arrive a few minutes early to set up and warm up. Students are responsible for their own transportation (parents/guardians are encouraged to stay for rehearsals if they’d like). Students are responsible for all food other than lunch on Friday.

All accepted students receive a scholarship for their involvement in the 2025 Cello | Fresno International Cello Festival, with no application or participation fee required. They will receive excellent instruction and master classes from Suzuki educator Cara Colón and Dr. Loewenheim. Please see the attached "Young Cellist" itinerary for details.

ALL PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AN APPLICATION BEFORE THE FESTIVAL.

  • 4:00 pm Cello & Bass Ensemble Rehearsal at Clark Intermediate in the Band Room (IA8).

Friday, October 31 (at Fresno State)

  • 9:50 am Students scheduled to arrive at California State University, Fresno – School of Music

  • 10:00 am Cello & Bass Ensemble Rehearsal in the Band Room

  • 11:30 am Masterclass Observation: Cello Fresno Faculty

  • 12:00 pm Lunch (pizza provided for students by Cara & Emilio Colón – American Cello Institute)

  • 1:00 pm Cello & Bass Ensemble Rehearsal

  • 3:00 pm Cello & Bass Technique Class and/or Young Cellists’ & Bass’ Masterclass

  • 4:00 pm Class Ends. Please ensure that you pick up your student at Fresno State.

Saturday, November 1 (at Fresno State)

  • 10:00 am Cello & Bass Ensemble Rehearsal at California State University, Fresno.

  • 12:00 pm Lunch Break - Students should bring a sack lunch, or parent/guardians may bring them lunch.

  • 1:00 pm Cello & Bass Ensemble Rehearsal and/or Young Cellists Masterclass

  • 3:00 pm Rehearsal Ends. Please ensure that you pick up your student at Fresno State.

  • 7:30 pm Cello Mania Concert with the Fresno State Symphony Orchestra and the faculty of Cello | Fresno

Sunday, November 2 (at Fresno State)

  • 2:00 pm Cello & Bass Ensemble Dress Rehearsal at Fresno State School of Music Concert Hall

    • Concert Attire – Ms. Colón will review appropriate attire for this performance.

  • 3:00 pm PERFORMANCE - Cello Fresno – Festival Gala Concert featuring our students in cello ensembles as well as the Fresno State Symphony Orchestra with the renowned Cello | Fresno Faculty Artists at the Fresno State School of Music Concert Hall. Please invite your friends and family to attend.

    • Students are responsible for their own transportation.

      *Participation in all of Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday’s events and concert is strongly encouraged for students to gain the full benefit of sharing their hard work throughout the intensive few days in our final gala celebration concert.

What you need to know.

  • All accepted students receive a scholarship for their involvement in the 2025 Cello | Fresno International Cello Festival, with no application or participation fee required.

    All participants are required to complete an application prior to the festival.

    Anyone applying after October 24 may attend master classes, presentations, concerts, and open parts of the competitions, as well as participate in the cello ensemble, but will not be able to participate in any master classes or the concerto competition.

  • Due to the rapid growth of the festival, we are no longer able to offer housing for participants. Hotels near the Fresno State campus are listed below the application.
