Symphony Orchestra (YSO)
This full symphonic ensemble offers young musicians an opportunity to learn works from the symphonic literature and to prepare for the challenges of further musical study. Participants are expected to study their instruments seriously. Repertoire is demanding and challenging.
Rehearsals are every Sunday afternoon from 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm throughout the concert season. Rehearsal Venue: CSU Fresno New Music Building, Room 127. It is strongly recommended that the student be enrolled in his/her school music program if at all possible.
Concert attire for Youth Symphony members:
Ladies: Full-length black skirt or black trousers, black top with long or three-quarter-length sleeves, black stockings/socks, black shoes.
Gentlemen: Black/dark jacket (tuxedo is fine but not required), black/dark dress slacks, black socks, black shoes, white dress shirt with black bow tie.
Shorthand version: black on black, bow ties for gentlemen!
