Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO)
This ensemble is the premiere orchestra in the organization. The YPO is open by audition to qualified applicants of grade-school through college age. Repertoire is advanced and has included works by Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Mahler, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Strauss, and Tchaikovsky.
Rehearsals are every Sunday afternoon from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm throughout the concert season. Rehearsal Venue: CSU Fresno New Music Building, Room 127. It is strongly recommended that the student be enrolled in his/her school music program if at all possible.
Concert attire for Youth Philharmonic members:
Ladies: Full-length black skirt or black trousers and black top with long or three-quarter-length sleeves OR full-length black dress with long or three-quarter-length sleeves, black stockings/socks, black shoes.
Gentlemen: Full tuxedo (no cummerbund—dark/black suit also acceptable), black socks, black shoes, white tuxedo/dress shirt with black bow tie.
Shorthand version: black on black, bow ties for gentlemen!
