Remember also to friend our YOOF Alumni Organization facebook page, and to post photos there.

You might also want to friend our regular Youth Orchestras of Fresno Facebook page. It's always active.

Help YOOF locate alumni!

We continue our search for alumni of the variously named youth orchestras that have constituted this organization since its founding in 1950.

What you can do:
If you know of someone who was a member of the Youth Orchestras of Fresno (variously known as the Kiwanis Youth Orchestra, the Fresno Junior Philharmonic Orchestra [“Junior Phil”], and the Fresno Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, among other names)—or if you ARE that someone—let us know.

Signing up:
Alums can sign up online at our website (www.youthorchestrasfresno.org), filling out an alumni update form. The button is prominently displayed on our home page.

Check out this photo! The Youth Orchestras of Fresno began as a string ensemble but by 1952 had become known as the Kiwanis Youth Orchestra. This is a photo of that orchestra taken sometime after 1952.

Photo provided courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Fresno. Photo credit: Clarence H. Heagy.

So far identified: male cellist in front ("with all the teeth showing") is James Heagy. Man in back is Malcolm Davison, Heagy's cello teacher and also  the group's conductor. Beside him is bassist Linda Hamilton. Flutist Eddie Street (wearing glasses) is directly behind the blonde cellist; next boy flutist to the right in the photo had the last name of Whitten; girl cellist (glasses) in the front is likely Paula Mazuski.

Help us identify more faces! And send more photos if you have them!
