IF YOU CALL THE CENTRAL VALLEY HOME...

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Please join our Coming Home Project, which will culminate in our Coming Home Concert on Sunday May 28, 2017.

Our Coming Home piece, created by multiple composers for combined orchestra and narration, is inspired by William Saroyan’s The Human Comedy, a work that features a thinly disguised Fresno (called Ithaca) as home to a diverse and varied cast of characters.

The music our young composers (Alexander Bianco, Chris Carreon, Mason Lamb, and Matthew Wheeler, under the direction of Fresno State composition professors Benjamin Boone and Kenneth Froelich) have created is itself inspired by various immigrant populations found in the Central Valley.

The narration comes from stories told by Central Valley residents who have been interviewed for this project. Much of this story-collecting work is being done by journalism students of Fresno State's Alice Daniel.

We welcome you to add your story to theirs!

The easiest way to do that is to complete the form on this page.

If you prefer to create a voice recording, that is fine. You can even do that in person at one of our upcoming concerts.

There are several more concerts leading up to the big Coming Home concert on May 28. Please return to this site for updated information.

The culminating concert will feature all three of our orchestras and our Accent on Access violinists on stage together at the Saroyan Theatre in downtown Fresno. Guest star Vadim Gluzman, internationally renowned violinist, will perform the Tchaikovsky concerto on the same program. Don’t miss it!

COMING HOME QUESTIONNAIRE: YOUR CHANCE TO ADD TO THE NARRATION!

Do you call the Central Valley home? (If the answer is No, you may still complete this survey. Just tell us your story anyway!) *
