9:00am  Depart from San Francisco for overnight flight to Madrid, Spain.  

       

 
 

Wednesday, June 15, 2005    Madrid

9:25am   Airport arrival assistance in Madrid.  Meet European Tour Managers who assist group to the awaiting motor-coaches.  Enjoy an introductory panoramic tour of Madrid en route to hotel.  Check into Hotel Florida Norte for welcome dinner and overnight.

            

 

 

Thursday, June 16, 2005    Madrid

Continental breakfast at the hotel, then a morning guided tour of Madrid including Plaza Mayor , Plaza de España, Retiro Park, the Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, and entrance to the Royal Palace and the incomparable Prado Museum.

   

 Cultural exchange / concert.  

                

 Dinner and overnight in Madrid.

 

 

Friday, June 17, 2005    Madrid

Continental breakfast, then a half-day excursion to El Escorial,  the magnificent palace and monastery built by Phillip II. 

Visit the Royal Apartments and the Basilica.

 

 

A few miles away, view the Valley of the Fallen.

Saturday, June 18, 2005    Toledo

Continental breakfast then transfer to Toledo.  Afternoon of sight-seeing including St. Tome, Toledo Cathedral, El Greco House and Museum.

Hot buffet breakfast then transfer to Granada.

Monday, June 20, 2005    Granada

Hot buffet breakfast then an afternoon guided tour including the Alhambra (Red Castle) which includes the Nasrid Palace , exquisite gardens, Emperor Charles V's Palace etc.  Entrance is also included to the Generalife (summer palace of the kings of Granada).

Tuesday, June 21, 2005    Torremolinos

Hot buffet breakfast then a morning at leisure in Granada.  Afternoon transfer to Torremolinos and check in to Hotel Griego Mar. 

Torremolinos is a popular resort on the coast road between Málaga and Algeciras. Lying in a wide bay with a beach almost 6 miles long, it owes its excellent climate to the shelter provided by the Sierra Tejada to the north and the Sierra Nevada to the south. In the 19th century a mere village which had grown up around the towers and windmills (torres, molinos) from which it takes its name.

 

 

Wednesday, June 22, 2005    Torremolinos

Hot buffet breakfast then a morning excursion along the coast,  including a visit to Malaga, Nerja (including entrance to the Caves of Nerja), Almunecar (see the Castle of San Miguel), and possibly Motril.  Return to Torremolinos to prepare for concert in Mijas.

Thursday, June 23, 2005    Cadiz 

Hot buffet breakfast then transfer to the Gibraltar area.  Afternoon sight-seeing including a cable car ride to the Rock of Gibraltar, and also see St. Michael's Cave. 

            

                

Continue to Cadiz for dinner and overnight stay.

 

 

Friday, June 24, 2005    Seville

Hot buffet breakfast then a morning guided tour of Cadiz. 

          

Visit the Cathedral, where the composer Manuel de Falla is buried. Afternoon transfer to Seville for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Fuerte Costa Luz. 

  

 

Saturday, June 25, 2005    Seville

Hot buffet breakfast then a morning guided tour of Seville includes Maria Luise Park (Plaza de España), the Gold Tower, the Giralda and Cathedral and entrance to the Alcazar, one of the most famous buildings in all of Spain.  Afternoon at leisure. 

    

Dinner and overnight in Seville at the Hotel Gran Lar. 

 

 

Sunday,  June 26, 2005    Lisbon

Hot buffet breakfast then spend the full day transferring to Lisbon and check into Hotel VIP Executive Santa Iria. 

    

 

 

Monday, June 27, 2005    Lisbon

Hot buffet breakfast then an excursion to Sintra to include the Palacio Da Vila (Royal Palace).  Sintra is nestled at the foot of the southern slopes of its serra, a haven of peace and quiet amid many trees.  For six centuries it was the country's monarch's favorite place of residence. 

 

Sintra's popularity is reflected in the old town's many antique and craft shops, smart boutiques and restaurants. The English poet Lord Byron lived here and loved this haven.  Sintra's cultural landscape was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1995.

Tuesday, June 28, 2005    Lisbon

Hot buffet breakfast then a half-day guided tour of Lisbon including Castelo San Jorge (which has dominated Lisbon for 1500 years), Jeronimos Monastery, and Igreja de Sta Maria de Belem (houses a Cross of the Holy Order, a statue of  Prince Henry the Navigator, and the tomb of the explorer Vasco da Gama).

 

Return to Lisbon for farewell dinner and overnight.

 

  Lastly, who could ever forget those who were in the seats of shame.

 

                   

 

 

 

Wednesday,  June 29, 2005    Depart for home

Hot buffet breakfast then a morning transfer to Lisbon airport for flight back to the USA.  Arrive home in the evening of the same day.

10:35am   Depart Lisbon and arrive in San Francisco at 6:30pm
